Duties
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including developing a takeoff of all material and labor required for the project. This takeoff will be combined with the outside vendor pricing to produce a complete project cost estimate
- Review project plans, work with deadlines, specifications, and other documents to determine the scope of work and materials required
- Analyze project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses. Research and evaluate vendor and subcontractor bids to ensure competitive pricing
- Prepare bid proposals and negotiate contracts with clients and ensure we are providing a thorough understanding of the project schedule and project specific requirements.
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process and identify opportunities for cost control
Physical Requirement
Required Skills
- Proven experience in construction estimating or related roles. With a basic understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection practices including knowledge of structural shapes and general industry terminology
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and other technical documents
- Ability to negotiate contracts and manage client expectations
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Must have software knowledge such as Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, Tekla, Excell and word.
